There are still a few days left of the winter olympics in Sochi, Russia, but so far, Team USA leads the medal count with 27 total medals at the 2014 Olympics. To date, U.S. Olympians have won 9 Gold medals, 7 Silver medals and 11 Bronze medals in both the most extreme events and some of the most boring events. (Fingers crossed for more U.S. gold!) Team USA won the most medals in Freestyle Skiing with 7 total, as well as 5 total medals in both Snowboarding and Alpine Skiing. As #1 on this list of the of the greatest ice dancing pairs of all time, Meryl Davis and Charlie White didn't disappoint, taking home the Gold medal for Free Dance Ice Dancing. Joss Christensen, Gus Kenworthy and Nicholas Goepper of the U.S. Men's Freestyle Ski Team swept the medals in Slopestyle as well.
Team USA men and women both medaled in skeleton and in bobsleigh, though only the women’s team earned a medal in ice hockey. And, Julie Chu of the Silver medal winning USA Women's Ice Hockey Team was elected as flag bearer for Team USA in the Sochi 2014 Closing Ceremonies.
