In "The Lego Movie," Emmet (voiced by Chris Pratt) is a normal guy enjoying his totally awesome life in the Lego universe. A House Divided
Emmet: "I know what you're thinking, 'he is the least qualified person to lead us' and you are right!"
Abraham Lincoln: "A house divided against itself would be better than this!"
Emmet: "Abraham Lincoln!"
Abraham Lincoln put up with a lot of resistance during everything he accomplished and never gave up but he has no patience for Emmet and his lack of experience. This is a big deal and Lincoln ain't got time for any nonsense.
I Wasn't Listening
Vitruvius: "My fellow Master Builders, including but not limited to, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Mermaid, Green Ninja, 1980-something Space Guy, Michelangelo, Michelangelo and the 2002 NBA All-Stars, we have learned that Lord Business plans to end the world as we know it. There is yet one hope. The Special has arisen."
Emmet: "I think I got it but just in case, tell me the whole thing again. I wasn't listening."
Vitruvius explains what's going on, as well as introduces all of the random Lego characters that have showed up. Emmet listens to the speech but needs to hear it just one more time for it to sink in.
Good Cop/Bad Cop
Good Cop/Bad Cop: [as Bad Cop] "Take him to the melting chamber!"
Emmet: "Isn't there also supposed to be a good cop?"
Good Cop/Bad Cop: [as Good Cop] "Hi, buddy! Would you like a glass of water?"
Emmet: "Yeah, actually"
Good Cop/Bad Cop: [as Bad Cop] "Too bad!"
When Emmet is busted, he is facing an awful fate, the melting chamber. He knows he can talk to good cop, who might be able to get him a better sentence, but getting good cop to stick around is going to be tough.
An Original Thought
Vitruvius: "We are entering your mind."
Wyldstyle: "I don't think he's ever had an original thought."
Emmet: "That's not true. Introducing the double-decker couch, so everyone can watch TV together and be buddies!"
Wyldstyle: "That is literally the dumbest thing I've ever heard."
Vitruvius: "Let me handle this. That idea is just the worst."
Emmet is tasked with using his imagination to save them all. While Wyldstyle has her doubts, Emmet already has a fun new invention, not that it will help them in their situation.
To the Batmobile!
Batman: "To the Batmobile!"
[Batmobile is blown up]
Batman: "Dang it!"
Wonder Woman: "To the invisible jet!"
[Invisible jet is blown up]
Wonder Woman: "Dang it!"
Both Batman and Wonder Woman think that they have a way to get them safely off that rock. Unfortunately, both made the mistake of announcing their plans which gave the bad guys easy targets to blow both vehicles up.
Really Hard
Emmet: "I may not have a lot of experience fighting or leading or coming up with plans. It's going to be really hard."
Metal Beard: "Really hard? Wiping ye bum with a hook for a hand is really hard."
Emmet: "Okay…"
Emmet is looking for sympathy when he talks about the huge task ahead of him. Metal Beard on the other hand isn't wanting to hear it.
President Business
President Business: "Hi, I'm President Business, President of the Octan corporation and the world. Let's take extra care to follow the instructions or you'll be put to sleep, and don't forget Taco Tuesday's coming next week."
President Business, another form of Lord Business, reminds citizens of two very important, and very different things, that he will put those who don't cooperate to sleep and the very exciting Taco Tuesday!
I'm Not the Special
Emmet: "I'm not the Special. I am just a regular, normal guy."
Wyldstyle: "You have the ability to be the special because I believe in you."
Emmet tries to reason with Wyldstyle in telling her that is actually isn't the Special, rather a regular person. She disagrees, inspiring him to be something special.
That's a Bat-Pun
Batman: "We'll wing it! (That's a Bat-pun.)"
Batman tries to make a joke. Unfortunately it flies right over everyone's head.
